I just had to take advantage of the sunny weather and sit on the beach in Roberts Creek and paint.

Hello and Welcome to oil painters cafe! Iv'e dedicated this blog to the study of everything oil painting. Lots of info on the technical aspects of oils, also tips along the way. I'm a self taught painter and I have to say, the journey thus far has been all trial and error. I've spent countless hours educating myself and have found invaluable information along the way. Info I wish I had gathered when I first began. However, it's never too late to learn. Oil painting is a continual learning process....If u ever get the opportunity to take classes with a Talented painter, don't hesitate. Avoid taking classes from amateur painters, u will be learning all their mistakes! Another very important learning process is Life Drawing. Go often, no matter how intimidated u feel by the presence of talented artists, they all had to start somewhere, just like u. Keep going. Another piece of valuable advice is to paint from life. Avoid painting from photographs in your early learning process. Paint from life to learn true colors so when u eventually do paint from a photograph, experience painting from life will help bring life to your painting. Enjoy the ride and if u have any questions please don't hesitate to ask.
